Making an engagement in English tin feel stressful if yous're not a native speaker, particularly over the phone, or if you aren't used to the lingo  (jargon, slang, vocabulary) people use. Confirming an appointment can also exist catchy if you aren't familiar with the common phrases people say.

  • Lunchtime
  • Midday
  • Apex
  • Afternoon
  • Late afternoon
  • Early evening
  • Evening
  • Night
  • Later on __ o'clock
  • On the weekend
  • During the week
  • During the twenty-four hour period

Saying No and making a new suggestion

If y'all are offered a time and information technology doesn't suit you, you tin say "no", and then counter with one of the phrases above.

For instance:

  • "No, I'k sorry, Wednesday doesn't piece of work for me. Simplyhow does Monday look for yous?"

Other ways to say No:

  • Hmmm…what nearly…

Pro tip!: If you are initiating  (suggesting first) a coming together with someone, it is usually a good idea to advise a fourth dimension likewise. You and your partner can and so negotiate  (determine together, compromise on) a time that works for both of y'all.

For example:

Confirming an Date
